Electronic Spotlight: Week Three

I was a junior in high school at the time, and I absolutely loved it. In fact, I loved it so much I listened to it on repeat when I mowed the lawn.

This week the spotlight will shine on one of the heavier genres in the electronic family, Dubstep.

Let’s face it, Dubstep is out of its golden age. A lot of songs today feature the same sounding growls, the same bass lines, the same samples, and even the same cover art styles. In other words, it doesn’t feel like there are any pioneers anymore. While a lot of songs are technically correct (the best kind of correct), and have a good overall sound, not much has changed asia mobile number list in the sound design in the past several years.

However, this might actually be a good thing. To me, this means there isn’t as much mystery surrounding sound design as there was in the beginning. Before, producers had almost no way to research sound design outside of some niche forums. Now there are thousands of YouTube tutorials on how to make a decent growl in Massive or Serum.

To avoid sounding generic, producers now have to innovate to stand out. Can you see where I’m going here?
